Putin Arrives In China To Take Part In Belt And Road Forum

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Chinese capital of Beijing on Thursday to take part in the 2019 Belt and Road Forum, a Sputnik correspondent reported

BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th April, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Chinese capital of Beijing on Thursday to take part in the 2019 Belt and Road Forum, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

The president arrived fresh from his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un earlier in the day in the Russian city of Vladivostok.

This year's Belt and Road Forum is being held from April 25-27. Twelve topical forums and conferences are scheduled for Thursday, ahead of the official opening of the forum on Friday.

Top-level meetings will happen on Friday, while Saturday will be dedicated to a joint session attended by the participating heads of state. All events of the forum will be chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The first such conference was held in 2017 and gathered 29 heads of state and government.

Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative seeks to improve and develop trade and transport infrastructure across Asia, Europe, Russia and the middle East.
