Agriculture experts said on Friday that moringa, locally called Sohanjna, is known as a magic tree due to its effective use for treatment of patients suffering from different diseases, and can also be utilised as a source of edible oil
This plant can be sown in Feb-March and it starts producing seed only in a year, says a release issued by the media liaison unit of Punjab Agriculture Department.
Moringa carried numerous benefits which included its use as a good quality fodder for animals, improves soil fertility, and extracts from its leaf can serve as growth regulator for crops.
Its consumption benefits people, diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and bone and joint pains.
Its leaf carries more proteins than milk and it can deliver good quality edible oil like that of olive oil.
Experts said that cultivation of moringa can yield higher profits in less duration and added that its seeds can also be used to extract edible oil that can be used in cooking food.
