'Third All Pakistan DICE Textile-2018 Innovation Event To Strengthen National Economy' In Faisalabad

Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Shabbir Hussain Chawla has said that third All Pakistan DICE Textile-2018 Innovation event will give positive results and strengthen national economy by reactivating most dynamic textile sector.
FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Mar, 2018 ) :Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Shabbir Hussain Chawla has said that third All Pakistan DICE Textile-2018 Innovation event will give positive results and strengthen national economy by reactivating most dynamic textile sector.
Hosting a reception dinner in honor of the participants of this event, he appreciated the efforts of National Textile University (NTU) and Directorate of Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (DICE) to organize this event for the third consecutive year.
A large number of scientists from different countries are participating in this event in addition to local scholars, academicians and industrialists. The president FCCI underlined the importance of textile in national economy and said this event will provide an opportunity to the experts to showcase their inventions and technologies in the textile sector.
It will also provide an opportunity to the local industrialists to interact with the experts in order to catalyze value-addition, he added. Shabbir Hussain Chawla welcomed the offers of Nebraska University USA to provide best education facilities to the Pakistani students particularly in the field of textile and told that Faisalabad is contributing 60 % share in total textile exports of Pakistan in addition to fulfilling its 80% domestic demand.
He highlighted the importance of Industry-Academia linkages and said he has floated a proposal to declare Faisalabad as Science City to ensure full coordination among different research institutes and universities of this city.
Engineer Ahmad Hassan Former Vice President welcomed the DICE Innovation event and hoped that it will further strengthen the industry-academia linkages. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Rector NTU thanked FCCI for hosting the sumptuous event for the participants of the DICE Textile Innovation event.
Dr. Khurhshed of DICE told that the scope of this year event has been expanded including seminar, talks, debates and interactive sessions in addition to the traditional innovation competition. Responding to a question about dwindling cotton yield in Pakistan, he said that DICE was working in seven different segments including textile, agriculture and automobiles etc.
and hence next year this event could be clubbed with agricultural base of textile by simultaneously involving NTU and University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). He said that Pakistani textile industry can manufacture airbags for the emerging automobiles industry and in this connection the textile sector should start work right now.
