MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2019 ) : Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Wednesday tendered an apology for his derogatory remarks against his own party's elderly leader and former AJK president and prime minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan and some women.

Speaking in the AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad, he regretted that conversations in private meetings and those on telephone were being recorded and even the prime minister was not spared.

He said the people in AJK were getting narrow minded. "We should show broad mindedness." Farooq Haider said he always respected every one, including women. He knew many of the politicians, who remained involved in scandals in the past but he would not talk about them.

He said during the last three years, his government had performed well.

Referring to alleged use of unfair means in the recent written tests for the vacant posts in the Local Government board Department, he said assured the house that strict action would be taken against the accused.

The prime minister said advertisements for various vacant posts in government departments appeared in national and local newspapers. "We want to facilitate state newspapers with getting published required government advertisements."The issue of delayed payment of the dues to the newspapers against the government advertisements was also being resolved, he added.

Farooq Haider said he believed that open merit system was better than the quota system. Merit was being strictly observed in AJK in inductions and promotion of officials in the public sector departments since the incumbent government came into power, he added.
