ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Mar, 2018 ) :A two-day gemstone exhibition organized by Azad Kashmir Department of Mineral and Industrial Development Corporation (AKMIDC) concluded here at Kashmir House.
Prime Minister AJK Raja Farooq Haider Khan visited the exhibition and lauded the AKMIDC for organizing the exhibition. The collection displayed comprised of corals, rubies, aqeeq and emeralds. Minister for Azad Kashmir Minerals and Industrial Development Noreen Arif said that the AKMIDC intends to be a major player in the State economy and was endeavoring to find a right place in the list of big minerals sector corporations in the world.
She said that the influx of huge foreign investments in minerals sector will no more be an alien subject, once the entire process of reforms, fiscal regime commensurate with National and International best practices will be given the best physical shape, hopefully very soon.
An official of exhibition said that the geological environment of AJK was comprised of three types including rocks, sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. "The type of mineral deposits founds were industrial minerals, gemstones, precious metals and base metals" he said.
He said that the most economically promising mineral deposits were ruby, graphite, bentonite, granites and cement materials, adding that AKMIDC prepared comprehensive studies of these deposits. A large number of people visited during the two-day exhibition and took keen interest in the displayed gemstones and Azad Kashmir jewelry. repeat
