Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi criticizes the Sharif brothers, says those who have caused problems to the people will be held accountable during the upcoming elections.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct 24th, 2023) An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the nation's capital has officially slated November 21 as the date for the formal indictment of Chaudhary Pervez Elahi, President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Chief Minister of Punjab. This development pertains to a case registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Police Station.
Judge Raja Jawad Abbas presided over the hearing as a duty judge since Judge Abu Al-Hassanat Zulqarnain was on leave during this session. Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, along with his legal representative, Sardar Abdul Razzaq, was present in court for this pivotal moment.
Adding a touch of humor to the solemn proceedings, the judge quipped that much like there are duty judges among politicians who take on caretaker roles, he, too, was a duty judge today.
As the hearing commenced, the judge inquired about the specific purpose of the day, asking, "Is today the day for setting the date?" In response, Advocate Sardar Abdul Razzaq confirmed that, indeed, the scheduled date for the proceedings was today but sought permission for a private consultation between Chaudhary Pervez Elahi and his legal team within the confines of the courtroom.
The court granted the request, allowing Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to engage in a confidential discussion with his legal representatives inside the court chamber.
Later, the ATC established November 21 as the official date for the formal indictment of Chaudhary Pervez Elahi in connection with the case originating from the Sihala Police Station.
Outside the courtroom, President of PTI, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi, emphasized the need to address internal party matters before addressing external issues. He also criticized the Sharif brothers, calling Nawaz Sharif as Nelson Mandela. He said that Nawaz Sharif should ask his brother Shehbaz Sharif about the injustices with the people. Elahi pointed out that the people were forced to commit suicide. He also mentioned other challenges for the public including difficulties in paying utility bills, vanishing job opportunities, and the plight of educators facing the wrath of authorities. He made a commitment to hold those responsible for these issues accountable in the upcoming elections.
