LAHORE, Sept 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Sep, 2017 ) : Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) Chief Executive Officer Shairyar Salim said on Tuesday that Bhalwal Industrial Estate would soon get the status of Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
During his visit to the Estate, he said the Federal government was also extending similar status to another two estates situated at Rahim Yar Khan and Vehari districts. Punjab government, he added, had provided an integrated infrastructure in these industrial estates to attract foreign direct investment and to reduce environmental and social impact of the industrial uses.
Shairyar mentioned that Bhalwal, a tehsil of Sargodha district, was an agricultural area and connected with three interchanges of Motorway-II, adding that Salam Interchange was very near to the city.
Bhalwal citrus fruits were very famous in the country and abroad, he added.
On this occasion, Bhalwal Industrial Estate Project Director briefed the visiting CEO about the status of development work and said that spanning over 429 acres, the Estate was being developed in two phases.
He assured the CEO of completing the civil work in Phase-II by September 30, 2017. The CEO expressed the hope that project would be completed well in time, and the Estate had already become a big attraction for international investors due to its strategic location on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.
He said the management was also negotiating with Technical and Vocational Training Authority to set up a training institute at the site for the skill enhancement of local labourers. A piece of land had already been allocated on site to meet the purpose, he added.
