Central President Awami National Party, Asfandyar Wali Khan Friday urged NAB to investigate mega projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Bab e Peshawar flyover project.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Feb, 2018 ) :Central President Awami National Party, Asfandyar Wali Khan Friday urged NAB to investigate mega projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Bab e Peshawar flyover project.

The ANP chief made these remarks during a press briefing after chairing party think tank meeting at Wali Bagh Charsadda district, a press release issued here said. Asked about the alleged corruption in KP government, the ANP chief said PTI government had made record corruption in the last four and a half years.

To substantiate his view point, Asfandyar said the PTI government had constructed Peshawar flyover at a cost of Rs 1.80 billion yet heavy vehicles could not pass through the same bridge due to its poor construction and was closed for heavy traffic.

He urged the anti corruption watch dogs to also probe the alleged corruption made by the PTI government in the billions trees Tasnami scheme and other similar mega projects. He said his party always respected courts' decisions and accepted the recent decision of the Supreme Court regarding disqualification of Nawaz Sharif from holding office of PML-N President with some reservations.

He said that Parliament was the best forum to address political issues instead of taking it to the courts and ANP trumpeting this stance time in again in the past. Asfandyar maintained political entities could not be abolished by minus 1 and minus 2 formulas, adding people votes matters in determining the future course of the political leadership.

To a question about the upcoming senate and general elections, he said there were speculations that Senate elections may be delayed for sometime, which he said would create a sense of deprivation among the smaller federating units.

He called for the timely holding of the Senate and general elections. He elaborated that politics should be restricted to parliament as it would not pollute the peaceful political environment. Asfandyar said he was not with any political party, rather standing with the Constitution and the Parliament.

About international politicking in the region, the ANP chief called for revisiting the external and internal policies of the country to make it in consonance with ground realities.
