An accountability court on Tuesday extended physical remand of an alleged frontman of Shehbaz Sharif family till June 3 in money laundering case
Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced the accused, Muhammad Mushtaq, before the Accountability Court Judge Syed Jawadul Hassan on expiry of his physical remand.
The investigation officer submitted a progress report and stated that further physical remand of the accused was required. He submitted that various accounts used in the process were yet to be traced whereas 200 accounts were used for transactions.
However, the defence counsel opposed the plea, saying that all allegations were baseless.
He submitted that the accused deposited money in Salman Shehbaz account for supply of sugar.
The court after hearing arguments reserved its verdict on remand plea but later, it extended the physical remand of the accused till June 3. The court directed the bureau officials for producing the accused on expiry of the remand term.
The bureau had alleged that the accused aided and connived with the Shehbaz Sharif family in money laundering.
He transferred over Rs 500 million to Salman Shehbaz accounts, it added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the bureau had arrested three other accused on charges of money laundering for Shehbaz family and they were also in the custody of the bureau on physical remand.
