DG EPA Expresses Concerns Over Unhealthy Water Supply To Citizens

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : The Director General Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Sindh, Naim Ahmed Mughal, while expressing dismay over the supply of unhealthy water to citizens from WASA filter plant has asked the Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency to ensure supply of water fit for health.
Visiting WASA filter plant at Jamshoro Road here on Monday, he said that due to improper filtration of water, the citizens were suffering from different diseases. He directed the MD WASA to improve the quality of filter water and in case of failure, legal action would be initiated against the responsible persons.
The Director General EPA also visited the Phuleli Canal and inspected the release of untreated effluent of SITE Hyderabad into the canal.
He asked the factory owners of SITE Hyderabad to set up treatment plants within the premises of their factories and if they failed to compliance, strick legal action would be initiated under Environment Laws and their cases would be referred to Tribunal of Environmental Protection.
He also visited the Isra University Hospital Hyderabad where he expressed his anger over insecure disposal of hospital waste adding that the hospital management is violating the Hospital Waste Management Rules 2014.
He directed the hospital management to dispose the hospital waste at proper site adopting scientific methods and in case of failure, strict legal action would be initiated under Environmental Act 2014.
