Excise's General Hold Up; 20 Vehicles Impounded, 560 Challaned In Rawalpindi

Excise and Taxation Rawalpindi under its general hold up launched on Wednesday against token tax defaulters, improper number plates and unregistered vehicles impounded 20 vehicles while 560 were challaned.

Talking to APP Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer, Sohail Shahzad informed that nine special teams on the directives of E&T Rawalpindi Director Ch. Sohail Arshad and Motor-vehicle Registration Authority (MRA) Officer Rawalpindi Sohail Sabir checked a large number of vehicles at different points of the district and also confiscated 560 registration books of the token tax defaulters.
He said, the teams conducted special checking of vehicles under his supervision while Excise Inspectors, Gul Sher Khan, Malik Javed, Raza Shah, Zulfiqar Abbas, Ehtisham ul Haq, Jahangir Khan, Ajmal Bhatti and Fayyaz Babar were incharges of the teams deployed in different areas.
He said that the authorities concerned have strictly ordered to tighten noose around the vehicle of token and other taxes defaulters.
The department will not release any impounded vehicle until the defaulters pay the tax.
He informed that earlier, the citizens were provided an opportunity to avail 10 percent rebate by paying token tax of their vehicles before September 30 for 2018-19 financial year. In order to facilitate the citizens, Excise and Taxation Office Rawalpindi is making efforts said Sohail Shahzad.
To a question, he informed that E&T's public facilitation center established at Commercial Market, Satellite Town is fully functional.
A state of the art facilitation center has been inaugurated here to provide all tax solutions to the citizens under one roof. He said that the services of Motor Vehicle Registration, Property Tax,Entertainment Tax, Excise Duty and Fee, Professional Tax, Information about Licenses and guidance about the different issues relating the department are being provided at the Centre. All available resources being utilized for the facilitation of the citizens, he added.
