Kashmir's Faryad Wins Award In IndieFEST Film Awards

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Augst,2016) : Fahad Kahut, an independent filmmaker, has won a prestigious Award of Merit from the IndieFEST Film Awards. The award was given for Fahad's exciting short film, Faryad, which aimed to highlight the ongoing atrocities and oppression in Kashmir.
Faryad, a low budget film features exceptional story that revolves around Burhan, a young Kashmiri journalist who is being hunted by the government forces for his activism and his grandfather, Yasin, who has seen the sufferings of last two generations of Kashmir and wants him to surrender his aspirations for freedom.
"I am very delighted that we have won an award for this film, credit goes to the entire team involved in this project. When I decided to make a film about Kashmir, there was never an attempt at glorifying or demonising any side, I was clear that I wanted to tell the compelling story of one of world's oldest & brutal occupations." The IndieFEST Film Awards recognises film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.
Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry. In winning an IndieFEST Film Award, Fahad Kahut joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award including Liam Neeson as the narrator of love Thy Nature, A Path Appears Documentary featuring George Clooney and Blake Lively, Radical Grace executive produced by Susan Sarandon, a searing expose Davids and Goliath by Leon Lee, and Touched with Fire starring Katie Holmes.
Rick Prickett, who chairs The IndieFEST Film Awards, had this to say about the latest winners: "The IndieFEST is not an easy award to win.
