KP Government To Probe Billion Rupee Stealing In Education Department

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th March, 2019) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to start investigations for embezzlement of billion rupees British aid for improvement of educational institution in the province.The corrupt high officials of education department of KP have crossed every limit and put heavy sum of amount in their pockets in the name of up-gradation and renovation of Primary schools in the province.The aid was released by the British government's Department for International Development (DFID) for setting up new educational institutions and refurbishing the existing schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but in several districts, the amount was misappropriated by limiting these projects to the files only.
At many places of KP, the amount was distributed to ghost schools.
In this connection, the probe carried out by the provincial Statistics Department reveals that some 25 districts of KP including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Swat, Abbottabad, Batgram ,Bunir, Charsadah, Upper and Lower Dir, Haripur, Karak, Malakand, Shangla, Sawabi, Tanak , Hangu, Chitral, Mansehra, Lucky Marwat and Kohistan were given Rs 40.68 million last year for providing basis facilities to the students at schools .The data showed that during financial year 2017-18, a hefty total of approximately Rs 550 million were misused in the province by education department including Rs 7.95 million that were earmarked for the daily wages employees .Earlier the provincial government had kept silent on this large scale corruption but now it has taken decision to investigate the matter on highest level.
