Lecture on Korean Literature held at NUML

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Oct, 2016 ) : A lecture on the Korean literature "Why Do I Write Novels" was arranged in coordination with Korean embassy by the Korean department, Islamabad King Sejong Institute of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Wednesday.

Prof.Sang-gukJeon, a prolific writer and Professor in Kangwon University Korea delivered the lecture while ambassador of Republic of Korea Dr. Suh-Dong-Gu and first lady Mrs. Yoon-jeong Cho, Rector NUML Major General Zia ud Din Najam, Director General Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Dean languages, Directors, Registrar, Head Korean Department and Director King Sejong Institute Islamabad Dr.

Atif Faraz, faculty members and a large number of students attended the lecture. Korean ambassador in his inaugural address said that Sang- gukJeonwill deliver a rare lecture on the Korean literature.

Let me thank Jeon for coming all the way from Korea to be with us today.

He will deliver a lecture on "Why do I write novels?" I believe that you would feel a certain sense of Korean literature through his lecture.

Especially, he is the top authority on Kim You-jeong, who is an icon novelist in the world of the Korean literature. Kim You-jeong lived a short life and died at the age of 29 in 1937. However, he produced about 30 novels, short stories and poems during last five years towards his death.

Ambassador said that Sang-kukJeon himself was honored many times by the Korean government and various literary institutions in Korea. His awards range from Contemporary Literature Award, Korean Literature Writers Award to Yoon Dongju Literature prize and Kim You-jeong Literature Prize etc.

Later, Sang-gukJeon delivered his lecture on "Why do I write Novels" and mesmerized the audience with his great knowledge and communication skills. He share his personal insight on the essences of his novels.
