Nine Including Street Criminals, Drug Peddler Arrested By East Police: SSP

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2019 ) :Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar on Friday said that district East Police arrested as many as 9 accused including 7 street criminals and a drug peddler and recovered arms, drugs and snatched items from their possession.
Sharing details of the actions in a presser at his office he informed that five members of a gang of dacoits, involved in robberies in bungalows, was arrested from near Khatoon-e-Pakistan College.
The accused were wearing security guard uniforms of fake security company they had created. The gang used to get their men hired for security purposes to rob the houses.
The police recovered 6 snatched motorbikes, a stolen car, 11 shotguns and 3 pistols.
SSP said that in another action Anti-Street Crime District East arrested two of a 11 member street criminal gang red handedly from near] Nishter Road. The police recovered 46 snatched mobile phones and two pistols from their possession.
The gang of 11 including a woman also was involved in over 200 street crimes in different areas of the city. The gang members escape to interior areas of the province after carrying out the major crimes.
Arrested two accused confessed that they used to get the snatched phones unlocked from mobile market. A team had been formed to nab those involved in sale, purchase and unlocking of snatched mobile phones.
Azfar Mahesar apprised that the Aziz Bhatti Police along with Anti-Street Crime Cell of District East arrested two dacoits red handedly while they were busy snatching a purse from a woman. The accused involved in snatching purses from women since eight years.
The police recovered a snatched chain, a purse and two pistols from their possession. One of the two arrested namely Rizwan had been arrested several times earlier by different police stations of the city.
They used to sell the snatched gold jewellery in Sarafa Bazar Liaquatabad. Actions against those involved in purchase of snatched gold items would be initiated soon.
The Police Officer further informed that Jamshed Quarter Police apprehended a drug peddler namely Tanveer alias Chooza and recovered 1 kg Charas and a grenade from his possession.
Cases against all arrested had been registered and further investigations also underway.
Meanwhile AIGP Karachi, DIGP-East and SSP East announced to issue commendation certificates and cash rewards for the teams involved in said actions.
The East Police also announced that the recovered mobile phones, motorbikes and others would be returned back to their genuine owners.
