Over 7,436 Tents Distributed Among IDPs In 2016: UNHCR

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) :The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has so far distributed 7,436 tents, 3,333 plastic sheets and 2,680 shelter repair kits this year among internally displaced families (IDPs). Talking to APP here on Tuesday, Spokesman of UNHCR Asif Shehzad said that 9,385 core relief kits, 14,752 winterization kits, 3,241 winterized tents were distrusted among the IDPs who were living in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Jalozai camp, Kohat, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai and South Waziristan agencies. He said that recently UNHCR has delivered 2,500 tents and handed over to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) which dispatched to South Waziristan and Orakzai agencies.
The tents and other necessary items are for those families, who have recently returned to the area now deemed safe by Pakistan's security authorities and are most in need. The UN refugee agency, as part of the wider United Nations response in Pakistan supports the government with the return of internally displaced people to areas in the country where the security situation has improved.
