PTI further pushed KP towards backwardness: Sikandar

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2018 ) :Provincial President and Parliamentary Leader of Qaumi Watan Party, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has said that like many past governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the PTI led coalition government had completely failed to deliver in the province too.

Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club, Sikandar Khan Sherpao accompanied by party leaders including Hashim Babar, regretted that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were kept deprived of development from 2002 to 2018.

He said that in 2002 Muttahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) came into power in the name of religion and did nothing for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Similarly, Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) made government in the province in the name of peace and development but instead kept the province backward and pushed it towards war and terror, he said.

The incumbent PTI government was given mandate in the name of change but the recent UNDP report was an evidence that it also wasted precious time of KP people in hollow slogans, he added. Sikandar said that the PTI government was claiming to bring reforms in health, education, miners and minerals and to eliminate corruption but even case was under process in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the illegal appointments in Ehtsab Commission.

Sikandar, termed the recent announcement of PTI Chief Imran Khan to bring real change in the country within 100 days a joke, and said Imran rather than developing the province pushed it towards further backwardness.

He said the claim to create 10 million job opportunities was yet another political slogan of PTI chief. He said that the PTI leadership was criticizing others for inaugurating underdeveloped schemes but Chief Minister Pervez Khattak himself inaugurated incomplete Swat Expressway.

He said the province owed billions of rupees to international institutions and asked who will pay this amount. Sikandar said that the provincial government failed to convene assembly session for the last two months because it has no members to run the assembly proceeding and even unable to present fiscal budget for the fiscal year 2018-19.

Responding to a question Sikandar said his party could make seat-to-seat adjustment with any other political party during general election 2018. Responding to another question Sikandar made it clear that there was no place for Pervez Khattak in his party. APP/ash/vak/azm
