ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jan, 2017 ) : The Supreme Court Monday adjourned hearing of four identical petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and others seeking investigation into the Panama papers till Tuesday.
A five-member SC larger bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmad, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan, counsel for the prime minister, submitted details about the properties and the settlement between the members of Sharif family. Ishaq Dar's counsel Shahid Hamid, who concluded his arguments, informed the court that a reference against his client was dismissed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while hearing ab an intra-court appeal.
The time to appeal against the court's earlier ruling had expired, he added.
Advocate Salman Akram Raja, counsel for Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz, started his arguments on Monday. He apprised the bench that he would make arguments from three aspects.
He said Hussain Nawaz was the beneficial owner of London flats and Nawaz Sharif had no association with them. Upon this, Justice Ejaz Afzal said Salman Raja would have to prove that the London properties belonged to Hussain Nawaz.
The court also asked Salman Akram Raja to submit details of bank accounts, and record of Hussain Nawaz's offshore companies and loans for Dubai Mill. Salman Raja argued that the accusers had not produced facts before the court. According to law, producing proofs and evidence was the responsibility of the accuser, he added.
