
Shehbaz Okays Khadim-e-Punjab School Programme

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th August, 2016) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday granted formal approval to "Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme" for construction of additional classrooms in schools. Chairing a meeting here, he also approved the design of classrooms to be constructed in schools. The chief minister said thousands of additional classrooms would be constructed with a cost of Rs 15 billion in 16 districts of south Punjab on priority basis which would result in better educational facilities to students in the province. The Punjab government, he said, was implementing billions of rupees mega programme of promotion of quality education and provision of missing facilities in schools.
He mentioned that construction work was also being carried out speedily on rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings of schools. The chief minister directed that the best companies be selected for the project and modern technology be utilized in the construction.
A steering committee had already been constituted to monitor implementation of the project and other matters.
Shehbaz Sharif said promotion of education was a key to rapid progress, and dream of progress and prosperity could not be materialized without equipping the youth with education.
Keeping this fact in view, he said, the Punjab government had made promotion of education its foremost priority by taking revolutionary steps in this direction, putting a positive impact on the education sector. The meeting also discussed the proposal of construction of smart classrooms in Primary and middle schools. Provincial Secretary Communication & Works gave a briefing on the project.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Punjab P&D Chairman, secretaries of Schools, Local Government, Health, Chairman of Punjab Information Technology board, NESPAK Managing Director and other authorities concerned attended the meeting, while Provincial Minister Tanvir Aslam Malik participated in the meeting from Commissioner Office Rawalpindi through video link.
