Sialkot Export Industry Complying With Labour Standards: SCCI President

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : A one-day consultation workshop on exploratory study 'More and Better Jobs Through Socially Responsible Labour Practices in Sport Goods Industry in Pakistan' was organised at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday. The workshop was organised by the Employers Federation and International Labour Organisation ( ILO) in collaboration with the SCCI. Addressing the workshop, SCCI President Mansoor Ahmed lauded the efforts of the Employers Federation of Pakistan, the ILO and other stakeholders for arranging the workshop.
He informed the house that export industry of Sialkot adhered to labour standards of Pakistan and was making strenuous efforts to comply with the standards keeping in view the international market.
Mansoor said that Pakistani producers were making efforts to reach out to the business world showing their capabilities and potential of connecting themselves with economic, social and moral values. He said that in order to generate more and better jobs, all stakeholders should play their role to motivate maximum multinational brands to source their quality products from Sialkot. The good CSR practices in Sialkot industry need to be highlighted at international level to attract attention of brands and buyers, Mansoor said.
ILO Country Director Ms. Ingrid Christensen, Employers Federation of Pakistan President Khawaja Muhammad Nauman and Zahoor Awan, general secretary, Pakistan Workers Federation, also spoke on the occasion.
