US Ambassador Hale Inaugurates Flagship Lincoln Corner

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : American Ambassador David Hale and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the Lincoln Corner here at Liaquat Memorial library on Tuesday.

Consul General in Karachi, Brian Heath, and U.S. Regional Information Resource Officer Marcy Carrel also attended. `Lincoln Corners are places where Pakistanis can connect with and learn about American culture and values, access information, and enjoy contemporary English-language books', said Ambassador Hale.

Consulate General Karachi has worked closely with the Sindh Department of Culture to establish Lincoln Corners throughout Sindh. Lincoln Corners are now operating in Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana.
Lincoln Corner Karachi offers a children's corner, meeting room, computer facilities, free wi-fi, a performance area and a collection of books, magazines and DVDs. Liaquat Memorial Library- the largest in Sindh, is located near several schools and universities, meaning students, teachers, and others will have easy access to the Lincoln Corner's resources and programs. Lincoln Corners provide access to current and reliable information about America through books, magazines, videos, internet access, databases, and programs for the general public.
Currently, there are 18 Lincoln Corners located in and around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Karachi, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Khairpur, Larkana, Hyderabad and Skardu.
