Wildlife Dept Permits 27 Animal Dealers, PA Told

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jan, 2017 ) : Sindh Wildlife Department has issued licenses to only 27 dealers of animals in the province, said Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, on a question of illegal sale and purchase of animals and birds particularly in Saddar, Karachi, here on Friday.
The Sindh Assembly session began with recitation of verses from Holy Quran with Acting Speaker Syeda Shehla Raza in the chair. Replying to a question, during question hour regarding Wildlife Department, raised by MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, he said that traders of birds and animals were following the legal procedure to continue their business.
If any dealer violated, action was taken against him. Nisar avoiding a reply to a question, about endangered species of animals in Sindh, he said that no one was allowed to hunt an animal without permission.
Before hunting, hunters were issued a license and animal could be hunted after it. He further said that just a day is fixed for hunting in particular two to three months fixed for the activity.
Adding that, whoever violated the rules and regulations or trespassed a law was dealt strictly. Replying to another question, he said that Sindh was very rich in wild animals specifically blind dolphin, hog deer, Sindh Ibex, Wild Goat, Chinkara, Crocodile, Pythons, large number of major Lizard and Reptile species, besides Blue Bull, wild ass including major predators Hyena and Vultures.
Moreover, the Sindh Wildlife department did not deal with pedigree animals like horses, dogs and cats. Nisar, replying to a question on laying white old pipeline agreement between Wildlife and PARCO, said that the agreement was signed on the condition that PARCO would engage restrictive construction methods without blasting and under proper monitoring by the wildlife department.
And, PARCO would contribute twards the conservation of wildlife and the environment. To a question on smuggling of rare birds abroad during last five years, he said that Sindh Wildlife department was always vigilant and prompt in terms of protection of wildlife in the province.
He said that the department had foiled number of smuggling attempts. To another question, he said that grizzly and brown bears were not found in Sindh. Earlier, the speaker deferred five call attention notices till Monday due to discussion on Water Accord.
