Due to ongoing Pak-India tensions, the veteran actor has decided to drop out of the project.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th April, 2019) Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has refused to play the role of a Pakistani protagonist in upcoming movie.
Amitabh Bachchan had earlier agreed to play the role of a Pakistani man after liking the peaceful messaging in Resul Pookutty’s script.
The film, titled Sarpakal and penned by Rang De Basanti writer Kamlesh Pandey, was set to on go floors with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.
However, owing to the worsening relationship between India and Pakistan over the Pulwama terror attack, the veteran actor has decided to drop out of the project.
Sarpakal features an international backdrop with actors from both India and abroad.
The VFX-heavy film has been described to be on the lines of The Lord of the Rings.
According to reports in media, “Resul had been discussing the script for his directorial debut with Bachchan for two years now. Bachchan loved the peace message in Resul’s Indo-Pak story. Resul waited for Bachchan saab’s dates and they were finally supposed to go on the floors when because of worsening relations between the two countries Bachchan saab had second thoughts.”
The report added that the veteran actor does not want to be labelled as ‘anti-national’ and be involved in a controversy which is rather unfortunate.
