German police and state prosecutors on Thursday raided homes of 12 men in Hesse suspected to be Islamist extremists plotting an attack against the state, local media said
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) German police and state prosecutors on Thursday raided homes of 12 men in Hesse suspected to be Islamist extremists plotting an attack against the state, local media said.
The suspects are aged 26 to 31.
Investigators said they also planned to travel to Syria to take part in fighting, according to the Hessenschau news website.
Fifteen homes in Ruesselsheim, Raunheim, and Biebesheim am Rhein near the main Hessian city of Frankfurt were searched.
The news outlet cited spokesperson for the Frankfurt state prosecutor who said 200 special police officers were involved. A property in the North Rhine-Westphalia state was also raided.
