Zimbabwe is the full time member of the International Cricket Council in Test and One Day International matches. Initially Zimbabwe Cricket Union was administrating the cricket in Zimbabwe but now Zimbabwe Cricket is the governing body of Cricket in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe played its first test match against India in Harare sports club in 1992. Zimbabwe is not among the strong teams hence it has won very less test matches till now.

Zimbabwe played its first ODI against Australia in Nottingham on 9th June 1983. As Zimbabwe was not a strong team in test matches, it could not become a strong team in one day international as well. Facing such challenges and difficulties, one of the batsmen of this team was regarded as the best batsman in the world. With the inclusion of such players in the team Zimbabwe improved their team and begun to win test matches against other teams.

Zimbabwe played their first T20 match against Bangladesh at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in 2006. And from then Zimbabwe acquired the status of T20 in International Cricket Council. Zimbabwe ranked 10th in Test, 11th in one day international and 12th in T20 international by ICC as per the rankings of December 2017.
