Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) facilitates 17,545 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in last three years

Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) facilitated around 17,545 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with health, Education and Training from 2015-17 enabling them to live a respectable life for themselves and their families.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2018 ) :Directorate General of Special education (DGSE) facilitated around 17,545 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with health, Education and Training from 2015-17 enabling them to live a respectable life for themselves and their families.

Education is provided to 4,169 students including 1332 in 2015, 1399 in 2016 and 1438 in 2017. These services are provided to 647 physically handicapped children, 604 students of Rehabilitation center for children with developmental Disorder, 868 visually impaired, 1580 hearing impaired and 470 trainees of National Training Center for Special Persons (NTCSP).

Health services were imparted among 6706 persons including 1945 in 2015, 2181 in 2016 and 2580 in 2017. During the three years 2755 physically handicapped were treated, 1121 Rehabilitation Center for Children with Developmental Disorder received health services, 760 visually impaired and 2070 hearing impaired persons, an official of DGSE told APP.

� Training was imparted to 1152 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), including 188 physically handicapped, 28 persons of Rehabilitation Center for Children with Developmental Disorder 884 visually impaired and 52 hearing impaired persons during the said period of three years.

National Institute of Special Education is providing training to the teachers and other professional working with persons/children with disabilities. These trainees include teachers, other professionals and parents of disabled children as well as persons with disabilities themselves.

From 2015 to 2017 a total number of 5518 persons received the training including 1675 in 2014, 2137 in 2015 and 1706 in 2016 training to the teachers and other professional working with persons/children with disabilities. These trainees include teachers, other professionals and parents of disabled children as well as persons with disabilities themselves.
