President Masood Assured Timely Completion Of University Of Ajk Chatar Kalas Campus

Muzaffarabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th March, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, today visited the under construction King Abdullah Campus of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) at Chatar Kalas.
The President was briefed on the ongoing construction by the Turkish construction firm, Siyah Kalem and the representatives of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD). During the presentation, the President was informed that construction of the building structures is under progress and almost 83 percent work has been completed.
Simultaneously, he said, work has also been initiated on installing air-conditioning in the buildings. He informed that work on the King Abdullah Campus began after the project was re-awarded to Siyah Kalem and it is expected to finish by the end of June 2019.
The project includes 28 buildings including a Mosque, cafeteria, market and requisite connecting roads. Engr. Yasir Gillani, Chief Engineer for the project informed that work on the construction of building infrastructure is well underway and despite various hurdles, the construction will be completed according to schedule.
Upon being inquired of the provision of electricity, Secretary AJK Electricity Department informed that feeders will be installed as and when required.
The President directed that matters related to the on-campus electrification may be resolved on priority.
The university management informed the President that issues related to the provision of water and electricity will be rectified with the help of an additional grant requested from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Registrar UAJK informed that the university has requested HEC for an additional grant to help resolve issues of electrification, the building of an electricity grid and other necessary equipment including the installation of a LAN network.
President AJK said he would personally take up the issue with HEC to ensure the timely release of the additional grant. President Masood Khan on the occasion thanked the Saudi government for funding this project and also thanked the Turkish government for playing an important part in the development and progress of AJK.
He said this commitment speaks volume of the cordial and friendly relations enjoyed by Pakistan and AJK with both Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The President also commended the university management for their commitment and for tenaciously working towards the completion of this mega-project.
