Revival Of Libraries Started To Promote Book Reading: Commissioner Karachi

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani Tuesday said the revival of libraries had been started in the city to overcome shortage of libraries in the metropolis
Speaking at a programme organised by NED University in connection with World Book Day 2019, here, he said 13 out of 47 government-run libraries needed to be revived.
He informed that the work on the establishment of central public library had also been started.
Iftikhar Shalwani said private sector and non-governmental organisations were cooperating in the improvement of libraries.
The Commissioner said all possible steps were being taken for promoting culture of book reading. He stressed the need for highlighting importance of book reading.
He was of the view that the information acquired through online search engines cannot diminish the value of education and awareness obtained from books.
