Minister for Federal Education & Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood Tuesday said the salary issue of teachers protesting here at D. Chowk would be resolved during the ongoing week after the approval of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
He stated this while responding to a point of order raised by PML-N Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz during the sitting of National Assembly.
She said that teachers of basic education community schools have been protesting at D. Chowk in Islamabad in favor of their demands for last several days including payment of last 10 months' salaries.
The minister said that PML-N was in government 10 months before but it did not pay the salaries to the teachers. He assured their salaries will soon be paid by the incumbent government after approval of over three billion rupees by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
The minister said that various institutions including Basic Education Community Schools, National Commission for Human Development and National Education Forums are working on non-formal education.
All the institutes of non-formal education will be brought under one umbrella in order to address their budget and teachers' regularization related matters, he maintained.
The minister said that previous government treated these institutions like a project and PC-1 was made every year.
But this government, he said, would resolve their matters and every step would be taken to increase literacy rate.
