Uniform Education System A Must For Nation Building: Shafqat Mahmood

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood on Saturday said uniform education system was required for better nation building
Talking to the media outside Alhamra Hall on Saturday, he said, "Politics should be kept away from education sector and if we want to increase literacy rate in the country and enroll 20 million out-of-school children, then all such matters have to be treated above politics".
To a question, he said he went to Sindh, did meetings with chief minister and education minister and hoped that they would focus on education an d all political parties could play collective role for a prosperous nation.
To another query, he said a lot of politics was done on Laptop scheme and now they need to move forward, keeping politics aside.
He said that they also held a meeing on uniform national curriculum with chairman Wafaq-ul-Madaris, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, and other representatives from schools, adding that they wanted to take all stake holders with them.
He said a uniform syllabus was need of the nation and efforts were being made in this regard hoping that desired results would be achieved.
Responding to another question, the minister said, "We are not against the 18th Amendment and provinces should have rights."
