Ministry of National Health Services has prepared a comprehensive Human Resources for Health (HRH) Vision to enhance quality of medical education based on international best practices
ISLAMABAD, Apr 2 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2018 ) :Ministry of National Health Services has prepared a comprehensive Human Resources for Health (HRH) Vision to enhance quality of medical education based on international best practices.
The Vision has been drafted in liaison with international experts of relevant field. Listing the steps taken by government and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for year 2017-18, official sources said on Monday ten Council sessions and nine Executive Committee meetings were successfully convened in 2017 while NEB Examination (step I, II, III) were also conducted.
The Council also initiated revision of accreditation proforma for medical and dental colleges, process of developing medical and dental curriculum for medical/dental students in consultation with Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other stakeholders in accordance with international medical standards initiated and appointments were made under section 3 of PM&DC Ordinance 1962 for smooth functioning of affairs of Council.
The other step included inspections and formulation of recommendations regarding recognition of Medical & Dental Institutions for training of undergraduate & postgraduate qualifications, process of formulation of National Policy initiated for Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development and initiation of reforms regarding change of manual work to digitalize/IT based process.
Timely pursuance of all court related matters, effective coordination between PM&DC and provincial departments, strengthening Regulatory Role of PM&DC, initiation of process for World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) accreditation were the other steps taken during the period.
It is mentioned here that Pakistan Medical & Dental Council is a Statutory Regulatory Authority established under Medical & Dental Council Ordinance 1962. It is responsible for regulating medical education by accrediting and registering Medical and Dental Institutions in Pakistan. However, Federal government extends its support and coordination as and when required by PM&DC.
