1st World Conference On Social Sciences And Humanities Begins

The Virtual University of Pakistan is organising the first international conference on Social Sciences and Humanities with the theme 'Social Sciences and Humanities in the New Millennium
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :The Virtual University of Pakistan is organising the first international conference on Social Sciences and Humanities with the theme 'Social Sciences and Humanities in the New Millennium: Challenges and Prospects' at the Lahore College for Women University, which started here on Thursday.
A large number of educationists and delegates from the USA, Canada and the UK are participating in the mega event. The three-day conference will provide a platform for deliberations and discussions with a focus on policy-level possible changes to be implemented in the academia in particular and society in general.
It will also furnish a foundation of a useful forum for the participants to share their experiences and get hold of opportunities leading to extended collaboration in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities among individuals and institutions.
A total of 220 research papers are being presented by 50 various institutions of the country. Dr Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan, inaugurated the conference.
In the inaugural address, he welcomed the delegates and said that the Virtual University of Pakistan is honored with the presence of renowned social scientists from the world.
He further said that purpose of this conference is to explore new horizons for Social Sciences and Humanities, understanding their unique perspectives and draw attention to the possible challenges of the new millennium for Pakistan.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC was the chief guest on the first day. He lauded the performance of Dr Naveed A Malik as founding Rector of VU and for making it one of the largest higher education institutions of the country.
He also praised the VU student, who recently qualified for 2nd ICT Skills Competition, organised by Huawei Pakistan in collaboration with the HEC. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha, educationists, large number of dignitaries and scholars of various academic institutions.
