7000 Tonnes Waste Removed During Eid Days

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -15th Sept,2016) : Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RSWMC) removed 7000 tons animal waste from the city during three days of Eid ul Azha. Talking to APP, Managing Director RSWMC Irfan Qureshi said a comprehensive cleanliness plan, in accordance with policy of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, was chalked out for Eid ul Azha to get rid of entrails of animals under which 2500 sanitary workers with 485 vehicles worked day and night during the Eid holidays.
He said the waste was shifted to transfer stations from where it was moved to landfill site at Losar through dumpers.
He said he along with RSWMC officials visited several areas and supervised the entire operation.
He said District Coordination Officer (DCO) Talat Mehmood Gondal also took round of the city and inspected the cleanliness work. The DCO and the citizens have appreciated the performance of the department, he added.
He said all available resources were utilized to fulfill the task during eid holidays. The MD said holidays of the sanitary workers and officials were cancelled to ensure cleanliness during the Eid.
