AJK Gives Final Touches To Observe 11th Anniversary Of October 8,

MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Oct, 2016 ) , : All arrangements to commemorate the 11th Anniversary of devastating Earthquake of 2005 with due respect and honor were finalized in Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Friday.
In this connection, State Disaster Management Authority will organize an awareness walk on Saturday, which would start from Chatter and culminate at Central Press Club Muzaffarabad at 10:00 am, Director General Press Information Department Raja Azhar Iqbal told APP on Friday.
Political and social figures and people belonging to all walks of life will attend these ceremonies to join the entire nation in observing the day with due solemnity and reverence. Later in evening on Saturday, candle vigil memorial ceremony will be held at Naluchi Bridge where AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and others would vigil candles to remember those who had lost their lives in deadly earthquake 2005.
Meanwhile, President of AJK Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, have in their messages on the National Disaster Awareness Day, said that devastating earthquake of 2005 wreaked havoc in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
They said the day brings to our memories countless human miseries and the huge loss of lives, property and infrastructure. They said the day is an occasion to express solidarity with all those families who suffered this calamity.
The President said the observance of this day as National Disaster Awareness Day is also an occasion for stock-taking and to reiterate our commitment to make greater efforts for preparing ourselves to face all such adversities.
Prime Minister called for urgent measures focusing on addressing those causes that are contributing towards the surge and recurrence of such natural calamities. The PM said the recent floods in Pakistan and the great losses that we have suffered have reinforced the need to pay greater attention towards threats and to take all possible measures to effectively mitigate the impacts of such disasters.
