The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Friday has reported all main rivers are flowing normal including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Sep, 2018 ) :The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Friday has reported all main rivers are flowing normal including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej.

According to daily FFC report, actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicate that Tarbela Dam is maintaining its Maximum Conservation Level (MCL) of 1550 feet and Mangla reservoir at 64.15 feet below its MCL of 1242 feet which is 1177.85 feet.

Present combined live storage of three reservoirs which is 9.215 million acre feet (MAF) (67.36 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

The report highlighted that, "prevailing meteorological conditions are not conducive enough to fill Mangla Dam upto its MCL by the close of 2018-Monsoon Season and water shortage is likely to occur during Rabi Sowing Season. IRSA is advised to ensure judicious water management".

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore yesterday's Well Marked Monsoon Low over Northern Bay of Bengal (India) has intensified into Depression and today lies over Northwestern Orissa (India).

The report further claims that marked Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan and is a source of moist currents which are penetrating into the upper parts of Pakistan upto 4000 feet.

For the next 24 hours, FFD Lahore has predicted scattered thunderstorm or rain with isolated heavy falls over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej, besides over Punjab (Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Divisions) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Bannu, Kohat and Hazara Divisions). Isolated rainfall may also occur over the upper catchments of River Indus alongwith Punjab (Sargodha, Lahore and Bahawalpur Divisions), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand Division) and Southeastern Sindh during the same period.

As per FFD, Lahore no significant change is expected in existing weather system during next 48 hours.
