ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The delayed winter rains may impact the business of quilts and blankets in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, limiting the demand.
The demand of quilts and blankets rises with the advent of Winter season but this year, the sale of these items has not picked up much momentum due to delayed winter rains. "I have booked some orders for hand-made and machine-made quilts but most of these are for wedding purposes", Aslam, a quilt- seller in Raja Bazaar said.
Talking to APP, he said, "Winter comes for a short time and the delayed rains this year have limited the number of buyers of quilts and blankets.
Hopefully the demand will surge after rain." Riaz Khan, another shopkeeper at Abpara market said,"The business of blankets is more profitable as compared to the traditional quilts as we sell a single blanket for around Rs.
2,500 and double for Rs. 5,000. "While we sell machine and hand-made quilts from around Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2500 with very less margin", he said. The weather experts have predicted that the winter season would formally set in after rain spell expected in December.
