LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -8th Sept,2016) : Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan said on Thursday that no country could grow without energy and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government was working sincerely to overcome loadshedding.
He was addressing a seminar on CPEC opportunities for private sector, particularly small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) at regional office of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here.
"China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is not only about energy or infrastructure development, it is economic cooperation framework," he added. The minister said that once the power plants that produce electricity at lower rates start working, things would improve.
He said that the private sector should come forward and get advantage of opportunities available to it through CPEC.
Sher Ali said that modern technology in mining sector was of high importance.
He said that it was a misconception that coal-power plants would affect the environment, adding that India produces more than 60 per cent of its electricity from coal. "We are thankful to the Chinese government which included Thar Coal project under the CPEC," he added.
The minister said that CPEC was no doubt a gift and we are thankful to the Chinese leadership for showing confidence in the PML-N leadership. Earlier, Consul General of China Yu Boren, speaking on the occasion, said that through CPEC the relationship of China and Pakistan had reached new heights.
