Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training would launch a "Hunarmand Pakistan Kamayab Pakistan" campaign soon under its new policy of raising Skill Brand which would strengthen technical education across the country.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jan, 2019 ) :Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training would launch a "Hunarmand Pakistan Kamayab Pakistan" campaign soon under its new policy of raising Skill Brand which would strengthen technical education across the country.

In this regard, the Ministry would leverage multi-source funding for the uplift of the technical and vocational sector.

Common certification framework and new regulation and licensing system at national level for education relating to skill development across the country is also part of the new policy document.

According to an official document, there were approximately 35,700 institutions available in formal technical and vocational education sector for an estimated 1.813 million new labour market entrants each year.

The document further highlighted that the government would utilize all possible resources for development of skills workforce.

Linking academia with local industry, making Public-Private partnerships and taking support of national as well as international donors, the maximum number of job opportunities would be created for youth, it added.

The document said that the Ministry would enhance capacity of training for jobs in market. It has also been planned that number of skilled workers in priority sectors would be identified for their potential contribution to economic growth.

Under the new policy, the quality and relevance of the courses offered in the skills sector institutions would be improved while; the certification and testing mechanisms would also be strengthened.

It has been decided that the institutional framework of TVET sector would be strengthened including improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public sector skills training provision.

The testing and accreditation systems in the skills sector would be improved. The competency-based curricula under the new Skills Frame Work Policy would be introduced.

The document further said that the Industry led Skills Councils in key economic sectors aiming at to check youth skills would be established. The Industry engagement would be enhanced in TVET authorities.

Meanwhile, a National Skills Information System for better planning, student placement and setting priority skills areas would be established.

The government has decided to increase the number of skilled workers in economic sectors on priority basis.

Moreover, a credible and reliable testing and certification system for the skilled workforce would also be established.

It is worth mentioning here that the indicators of both skills training and higher education in Pakistan were low. The technical and vocational education sector lacks the capacity to deliver market oriented technical training.
