Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated social reforms and provision of career opportunities targeting youth of the province enrolled in elementary and higher educational institutions to create awareness and provide professional avenues for career development.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2018 ) :Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated social reforms and provision of career opportunities targeting youth of the province enrolled in elementary and higher educational institutions to create awareness and provide professional avenues for career development.

As per directives of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Azam Khan, the three tier initiative is targeted to ensure ethical, informed and participatory citizenry with special emphasis on providing moral education at schools followed by Good Citizen Corps (GCC) at college level and post graduate internship program in all the projects under provincial ADP.

According to details, the initiative has been taken in lieu of changing social needs, stark gaps in curricula regarding civic and ethical standards, enhanced participatory role of citizens in the modern world and the youth increase in population that needs to be channelized in the best possible way.

Furthermore, the initiative has been divided into three phases. First phase including imparting theoretical knowledge regarding civic and ethics dispersed across different subjects aimed at sensitizing students on prevalent ethical issues, civic duties and their role in society helping students at elementary level to become responsible citizens.

For successful implementation of the theoretical phase, a catalogue of important topics pertaining to ethics and civic studies has been drafted jointly by PMRU and subject experts of Elementary and Secondary Education Department.

Moreover, directives have been issued to all public educational institutions in KP for holding regular speeches and skits on topics of ethics during their assemblies. The practice has already been initiated in the schools since last month.

Secondly, Good Citizens Corps (GCC) has been launched at college level on lines of National Cadet Course (NCC). Under the program, college students would be required to undergo a compulsory 21 days course which will include working at different welfare centers such as blood donation camps, hospitals, social welfare department etc.

Thirdly, the Provincial Government would provide internships in all the projects of Provincial ADP, whereby they will be trained in specific areas, hence making them capable enough to find employment and contributing into the economy.
