LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Nov, 2016 ) : The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed a plea against acceptance of former Federal minister Sumaira Malik's nomination papers for reserved seat in Khushab District Council elections.
The single bench comprising Justice Shahid Waheed heard the petition filed by one Ayub. Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the returning officer accepted nomination papers of Sumaira Malik for local bodies (LB) election despite the fact that she was disqualified by the Apex Court over fake degree.
He pleaded with the court to set aside the returning officers decision and reject nomination papers of the respondent. However, Sumaira's counsel Mubeen ud Din Qazi pleaded with the court to dismiss the appeal as the petitioner was not an aggrieved person.
He further contended that their was no requirement of BA degree for local bodies elections and the SC verdict was not applicable in this case. The court after hearing arguments of the parties dismissed the appeal.
