New case management plan to be launched in LHC, district Judiciary: LHC CJ

LAHORE, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said a new case management plan was being launched in the LHC and district judiciary from January 9, 2017.

Briefing the media here on Thursday, he said that special benches, hearing of advanced cases by senior judges, three months roster were salient features of the plan being implemented in the LHC.

He said the LHC had shown a positive trend in disposal of cases and 57,784 cases (including old and new) were disposed of from June 28, 2016 to December 24,2016. He mentioned that 153,068 cases were pending on June 28, 2016 at the LHC principal seat and its allied benches, whereas the backlog decreased and stood at 140,837 on December 24, 2016.

The chief justice further said that new case management plan was also being implemented in the district judiciary. Bifurcation of civil and criminal cases, hearing of cases by special courts, ADR techniques will be its arsenal, he added.

He said that three months target plan (from January 9 to April 8) had been set for 36 districts and performance would be linked with the fulfilment of target. "Transfer policy for the district judiciary is also being prepared", he added.

The chief justice said that the district judiciary had disposed of 808,761 cases from June 30, 2016 to November 30, 2016. He said that three months target oriented plan had also been set for different departments of LHC administration to check their performance.
