Operation Against One-wheelers Intensified

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Augst,2016) :- District police and City Traffic Police have intensified their campaign against one-wheelers in the city. Cases are also being registered against those found indulging in one-wheeling, using pressure horns and other devices, running bikes without silencers, rash and negligent driving.
Special squads have been deployed on different roads in the city. Police personnel in plain clothes have been directed to keep an eye on one-wheelers and strict action in accordance with the law is being taken against the violators.
Under section 99-A of Motor Vehicle Ordinance, six months to two years imprisonment with a fine amounting to Rs 5000 to 10,000 would be imposed on one-wheelers. Stern action under Section-279 of Pakistan Panel Code may also be taken.
According to a police spokesman, City Police Officer Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on the directive of Chief Minister Punjab, had issued instructions to all SHOs in the city to supervise operations against one-wheelers and directed to take action against the violators without any discrimination.
All out efforts are being made to end activity of one-wheeling by youngsters on the city roads, he said adding, the increasing trend of one-wheeling by youngsters has claimed several precious lives and a number of youngsters have also suffered serious injuries. He said, one-wheelers are not only playing with their own lives but are also a threat for other road users that is why stern action being taken against them. He urged the citizens particularly the parents to come forward and play their role to curb the activity as one-wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents.
