PFA to collect food samples from school, college canteens in Multan

Commissioner Multan Division Imran Sikandar Baloch has directed the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to collect samples of food items from canteens of educational institutions and shops in the surrounding areas.

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Oct, 2018 ) :Commissioner Multan Division Imran Sikandar Baloch has directed the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to collect samples of food items from canteens of educational institutions and shops in the surrounding areas.

Presiding over a meeting here on Monday, he said that it was a responsibility of the district administration to ensure availability of good quality food to citizens. He said that screening of workers attached with food points would help control diseases.

He asked Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to initiate practical steps to make Clean and Green Pakistan campaign successful. He directed the PHA administration to organise different events to provide the best recreational activities to people.

While giving briefing on the occasion, PFA Director Capt (retd) Arif Saeed Leghari informed commissioner that seven teams were working in Multan, two in Khanewal, three in Vehari and two in Lodhran in this regard.

He said that notices had been served on 47,698 shopkeepers, fine imposed on 3,272 over unhygienic food items and poor cleanliness, while 872 food points had been sealed, 42 FIRs registered and 37 shopkeepers had been arrested so far.

He said that 38 milk shops, 71 hotels, 290 bakers, 39 ice factories and 32 general stores had been checked, while 1753 samples collected. He stated that licences have been issued to 7,373 food points.

Deputy Director Admin PHA Muhammad Hamza informed that there were 57 parks, 24 green-belts, one nursery and three playgrounds under the supervision of the Parks and Horticulture Authority out of which biometric system has been installed at two parks to ensure presence of staff. He said that the PHA facing shortage of staff and funds.
