Punjab Governor Stresses Joint Efforts For Restoration, Welfare Of Special Persons

Lahore, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2018) : Governor Punjab, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwan has said that the government and well-off people of the society need to put joint efforts for restoration and welfare of the special persons.
He stated this while taking to a delegation of special persons headed by Dr. Khalid Jamil which called on him at the Governor House Lahore on Sunday. Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that it was the joint responsibility of the government, well-off people and non-governmental organizations to make the people with disabilities, self-sufficient and independent so they can lead a honourable life instead becoming burden on family and society.
He said that the special persons don't lack the ability and skills but need opportunities to express themselves. The Governor Punjab lauded the efforts of Dr. Khalid Jamil for welfare of the special persons and making them a useful element of the society.
He said that the government has allocated 3 percent job quota for persons with disabilities under which government jobs were provided to 4848 special persons. Rafique Rajwana said that the government has also given a compensation of 10-year in age limit for special persons in the government jobs.
It also allocated 10 percent for financial assistance of persons with disabilities in Punjab Bait-ul-Mal, he added. Besides free treatment facilities, 50 percent discount has also been announced in traveling fares for special persons, the Governor Punjab added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khalid Jamil demanded that Physical Medicines and Restoration Department established in King Edward Medical University (KEMU) should be transformed into Teaching Department. On the occasion, a disabled youth operated laptop by using his nose which was highly admired by the Governor Punjab.
