PESHAWAR, Jan 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2017 ) : The third recruitment of constables in KP Police through NTS had been completed. Prior to the present system of recruitment the whole process was marred by complaints of nepotism and corruption.
The present system was introduced by the incumbent IGP Nasir khan Durrani in the year 2014 and it had been widely appreciated by the candidates and general public at large. The AIG Establishment Najeeb-Ur-Rahman briefed the IGP about the recruitment process.
A total number of 58,130 candidates applied for 1621 seats. Out of these 20,570 candidates could qualify the physical standard and endurance test. These qualified candidates appeared in written test and 11,127 were declared successful.
However, due to paucity of seats only 1621 candidates were enlisted in 24 districts of KP. The percentage of the enlisted constables to the total applicants thus comes to be 2.7 %. In order to eliminate the negative effects of discretion, the interview portion was replaced with psychological profiling of the candidates.
This test was conducted by professional psychologists having an experience of conducting such tests in Armed Forces. This was an eligibility test to identify any mental tendency towards extremism or militancy and 254 candidates could not pass this test.
In order to check the complaints of impersonation the testing agency was asked to take finger prints of candidates at all stages of the test and to finally compare them with the CNIC record of the candidates.
During this process it was found that 15 candidates were impersonating the actual candidates. They were debarred from future enlistment in police department besides initiation of criminal case against them.
The analysis of the successful candidates reveals that 30% enlisted recruit possess graduates and post graduates degrees, 50 % are FA/FSc while 20% are matriculate. Surprisingly in the first twenty positions of qualified candidate none hailed from Peshawar.
Out of the top 20 positions, 04 were clinched by candidates from District Chitral, 03 from District Nowshera, 03 from District Lakki Marwat and 02 each from District Bannu, Mardan and Karak which clearly shows the potential and hard work of the candidates from far-flung areas of the province.
In order to give permanence to this recruitment process, necessary amendments have been proposed in the new Police Law as it will not only encourage the youth across the province but will also ensure the enlistment of best available talents in police which would improve its efficiency and public image.
