River Indus in Low Flood at Guddu Barrage

Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported River Indus flowing in Low Flood at Guddu Barrage and all other main Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Aug, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported River Indus flowing in Low Flood at Guddu Barrage and all other main Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.

According to daily FFC report on Thursday, actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam is at its Maximum Conservation Level (MAL) of 1550 feet and Mangla reservoir at 65.70 feet below its MAL of 1242 feet which is 1176.30.

Present combined live storage of three reservoirs which is 9.309 MAF (68.04 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), yesterday's Monsoon Low over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh (India) has become insignificant, whereas trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Northern parts of Pakistan. Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan resulting into weak moist currents which are penetrating into upper parts of Pakistan upto 2000 feet.

For the next 24 hours, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country as predicted by FFD, Lahore. Nevertheless, isolated thunderstorm or rain is expected over upper catchments of all the major Rivers besides over Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and D.G. Khan Divisions of Punjab and Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the same period.

The forecast also predicts, "Light to moderate rainfall is also expected over Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore Divisions of Punjab, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and Kohat Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir from September ".

No significant rainfall event has been reported by FFD, Lahore during the past 24 hours, except for 52 mm in Malamjabba, 07 mm in Saidu Sharif and 05 mm in Dir, the report said.
