Road to Batswat village blocked due to debris flow: NDMA

National Disaster Management Authoirty (NDMA) daily monsoon situation report stated that Road to Batswat village, Tehsil Ishkoman, District Ghizer, Gilgit Baltistan was blocked due to debris flow.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Sep, 2018 ) :National Disaster Management Authoirty (NDMA) daily monsoon situation report stated that Road to Batswat village, Tehsil Ishkoman, District Ghizer, Gilgit Baltistan was blocked due to debris flow.

The report mentioned that restoration work was in progress to restore the road by district administration. The road was choked due to debris flow in the result of a landslide prior to August 1. The blockage has been a nuisance for commuters and area residents over a month while the district administration has been making all out off efforts for rehabilitation of the track.

"All other roads and railway routes across the country are clear", the report said.

The report said, "Significant rainfalls for the last 24 hours occurred at Panjera 35 mm and Islamabad 32 mm". Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast for next 24 hours predicts, "Scattered wind-thunderstorms or rain with isolated heavy falls and one or two very heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers along with Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and D.G. Khan Divisions".

NDMA recommended Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), "Considering possibility of rains in D.

G Khan Division, vulnerable communities especially along hill torrents be sensitised for requisite precautionary measures". It also included directives for relevant departments to ensure timely clearance of sewerage or drainage system in all major cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore by all stakeholders.

NDMA report weather outlook from 14 September to 16 September 2018 said scattered wind thunderstorms or rain with isolated heavy falls and one or two very heavy falls expected over Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and D.G. Khan.

Hailstorms and windstorms or dust storms are also likely in sub-mountainous areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the forecast period and wet spell is likely to decrease from 16 September 2018, it added.

Rain-thundershowers occurred during last 24 hours at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Hazara Divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Malakand Division and Gilgit-Baltistan and weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country, the report added.
