Senate Body For Greater National Unity To Eliminate Terrorism

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication Thursday underlined the need for greater national unity and unison to eliminate menace of terrorism. The committee meeting, chaired by Shahi Syed, strongly condemned the Quetta blast which claimed lives of dozens of innocent people including Sangat Jamaldini, son of Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini and Askra Achakzai, niece of Senator Daud Khan Achakzai. The body offered Fateha for the martyrs of Quetta tragedy and prayed for early recovery of the injured. The chairman asked the quarters concerned to take stern action against the elements, having soft corner for disgruntled people carrying out subversive activities.
Rehman Malik suggested strict punishment for those using stolen and snatched mobile phones and said he would propose a legislation in the Senate, accordingly. Shibli Faraz said the political parties would have to shun the tendencies of expediency and show courage to wipe out the menace of terrorism. Member Information Technology Mudassar said the standing committee had passed the Cyber Crime bill, which was laudable. Shahid Syed said the body approved the bill with national spirit, putting in efforts to improve legislation aimed at serving the cause.
