Senate Refers Five Bills To Standing Committees

The Upper House of Parliament Monday witnessed introduction of five bills and all of them were referred relevant Standing Committees for further deliberations
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Oct, 2017 ) :The Upper House of Parliament Monday witnessed introduction of five bills and all of them were referred relevant Standing Committees for further deliberations.
The bills introduced in the House included the Prevention and Management of Conflict of Interest Bill, 2017; the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of Article 153); the Federal Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
Another bill, the National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill, 2017 as passed by the National Assembly was also referred to relevant committee for further discussion. Senator Ch.
Tanvir Khan withdrew his bill namely the Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens Welfare Bill, 2017 while the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was deferred on the request of mover.
Senator Azam Khan Swati also withdrew his bills namely the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of sections 154 and 156 and insertion of new section 154A); the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of sections 46 and 57); the Islamabad Consumers Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the National Health Care Bill, 2017; the Defamation (Amendment) Bill, 2017; and the Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of section 2).
The House was intimated about the bills received from the Standing Committees and awaiting notices under Rule 100 for their consideration in the House. These bills included the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of Article 228), introduced by Senator Sehar Kamran, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2017, introduced by Senator Karim Ahmed Khawaja and the Islamabad Restriction on Employment of Children Bill, 2017, introduced by Senator Sehar Kamran.
