University of Sindh reopens after summer vacation

The University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro and its campuses reopened after summer vacation Tuesday.

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jul, 2018 ) :The University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro and its campuses reopened after summer vacation Tuesday.

SU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat paid a surprise visit to Dr M A Kazi Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Environmental Sciences and Institute of Information and Communication Technology.

The visit was a monitoring move to ascertain preparedness of all things essential for teaching- learning- research cycle at the varsity by the very institutional head himself.

Talking to various academic heads and faculty during the visit, Dr Burfat said that only three to four percent of eligible youth in Pakistan were able to make their education to tertiary level; emphasizing thereby on those, who he called "a blessed minority", to make the most of the available rare opportunity.

Dr Burfat also categorically called out to those students who had still not turned up for classes to report immediately at their respective departments/ institutes to avert the adverse prospect of dropout or term-back in case they failed to obtain eighty percent attendance as mandatory pre-qualification to take examinations towards the end of the semester.

During the visit, the Vice Chancellor checked teacher muster rolls, sought updates on academic issues from department/ institute heads, met members of the support staff and stressed on the need for cohesive teamwork to take mission of the university forward on positive lines.

Dr. Burfat inspected ongoing development and construction projects and also viewed internet Control Room established at the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) of the varsity.

The Director ICCT Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili filled Dr. Burfat in on IT innovations and fiber-network connectivity advancements. The Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr. Akhtar Hussain Moghal was also present on the occasion.
